Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hi everyone! I'm busy packing and moving, which is why there has been delay in the posts. I apologize.

However, today I have a really great recipe for you- another way to add some real punch to your chocolate chip cookies- browned butter. Almost anything I use browned butter in turns out amazing, and these cookies were no exception.

Here's the browned butter- let it go about 10 minutes on medium heat while stirring, until browned and nutty smelling- but don't let it burn!

And here's the lovely dough.

Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
-2 sticks butter, browned and re-chilled
-1 cup brown sugar
-1 cup white sugar
-2 eggs
-2 teaspoons vanilla
-3 cups flour
-1 1/2 teaspoons salt
-1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-8 oz. chocolate- chips or chopped up bar, whichever you prefer
Cream the butter and sugars, and mix in the eggs and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients and stir well. Add the chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 F for 9-10 minutes on parchment paper

Here are the cookies ready for the oven...

And done baking! Don't they look lovely? I hope you enjoy!

Savor it!
love, rue

  1. Hurray Rue! For some reason I thought you might stop doing this after graduation, even though you've got a year left. Now just because I'm not at Oberlin doesn't mean I have to give up on delicious Rue-baked goods :)

  2. Oh boy, I've tried brown butter in chocolate chip cookies and they were awesome! It must have been so tempting to have that whole batch of cookies in front of you. I have a sweet treat linky party going on at my blog and I'd love it if you'd come by and link your cookies up. http://sweet-as-sugar-cookies.blogspot.com/2011/06/sweets-for-saturday-21.html
